Pentair Basket for Model C8-58P, Sta-Rite Max E Glass II, R38006

The Pentair R38006 is the basket for model C8-58P, the Sta-Rite Max E Glass II. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What the basket does

Everything the skimmers and main drain pull in arrives at the pump, and the basket is what keeps leaves, twigs and grit from reaching the impeller. It is a consumable in practice: it gets lifted, knocked, packed full and emptied hundreds of times a season, and eventually the plastic goes brittle and a rim or a rib splits.

Why to replace it rather than run it

A cracked basket looks like it is still working, but it passes debris through the split. That debris ends up in the impeller, and the difference between a new basket and a blocked impeller is the difference between a five minute job and stripping the wet end. A basket that has collapsed under suction is doing the same damage from the other direction, choking flow while the pump works harder for less.
