Hayward Washer 5/16 in for DE Filters, ECX1109

Hayward ECX1109 is the 5/16 inch washer used as a service part on Hayward DE filters. It is ordered by part number, which is the point of a part like this: the size and material are the ones Hayward specifies for the position rather than whatever is in the drawer.

Where it appears

The washer is shown in the Hayward parts breakdowns for the Pro-Grid DE filters, models DE2420, DE3620, DE4820, DE6020 and DE7220, and for the Micro-Clear DE filters including the stainless steel versions. Check the diagram for your filter to confirm the position and the quantity your assembly uses.

Worth doing while the filter is open

Washers do quiet work, spreading clamp load so a nut does not bite into the part below it. A dished, corroded or missing washer is cheap to put right during a teardown and awkward to deal with once the filter is closed up and running.
