Hayward SPX1053Z1 2″ Pipe Plug, Pack of 5

Hayward SPX1053Z1 is a 2 inch MPT plastic pipe plug, and this listing is the five pack. It threads into a 2 inch female pipe thread opening to close the line off.

Where it gets used

These are the plugs that go into returns, suction lines and equipment ports when a pool is being closed, and into any threaded opening that needs sealing while work is done elsewhere on the system. Buying five at a time matches how they are actually used: most pools need several at once, and one missing plug at closing time holds up the whole job.

Handle the threads gently

The plug is plastic and it is going into plastic. Threads at this size will strip long before they need real force, so run them in by hand until they seat and then take them only as far as the manufacturer instructions call for. A plug that is snug and clean will come back out easily next spring, which is more than can be said for one that was leaned on with a wrench.
