Hayward SharkVAC Drive Pin Assembly, RCX40117

The Hayward RCX40117 is the drive pin assembly for the SharkVAC and SharkVAC XL robotic pool cleaners, listed for models RC9740 and RC9742. It is a genuine Hayward OEM part, and Hayward notes it may fit other cleaners in its range as well.

What the drive pin does

The drive pin sits between the motor output and the part of the cleaner that actually moves it across the pool. When it wears or shears, the cleaner can sound perfectly healthy and still fail to climb, track or turn properly, because the rotation is no longer reaching the drive. Owners often suspect the motor when a small drive part is the actual fault.

Before you order

Open the cleaner and look at both drive positions. Parts on either side see the same running hours, so if one pin has gone it is worth checking the other and the drive bearings at the same time rather than doing the job twice.
