Century Square Flange 2 HP EE 208/230V Pool Pump Motor B2843

The Century B2843 is a square flange 2.0 HP pool pump replacement motor for 208 to 230 volt service, with a 1.30 service factor. It is the motor A.O. Smith listed as the SQ1202.

Electrical and mechanical

Two horsepower at 208-230V, drawing 11.0 amps at the lower voltage and 10.0 at the higher. Rotation is counterclockwise viewed from the pump end. It runs on ball bearings rather than sleeve bearings and carries a stainless steel shaft, which matters more than it sounds: a plain shaft corrodes over the years and an impeller can seize onto it hard enough that the next rebuild becomes a motor replacement.

Getting the replacement right

Match three things before ordering: the mounting, which is square flange here, the horsepower and service factor, and the supply voltage. Those are printed on the label of the motor you are removing. The same motor turns up under a long list of numbers, including B843, SQ1202, AOSB843, 38533, 5324-0, 663001726104 and 0-193995-07, so a part number that does not match exactly is worth checking against that list before you rule it out.
