Century 56J Threaded UR .75 HP 115/230V Pool Pump Motor, B227SE

The Century B227SE is a 3/4 horsepower up rate pool pump motor on the 56J frame with a threaded shaft. It is single phase and wired for either 115 or 230 volts.

The numbers that matter

Effective and label horsepower are both 3/4 and the service factor is 1.00, which is what makes this an up rate motor rather than a full rate one. Current draw is 8.8 amps at 115 volts or 4.4 amps at 230 volts. A 25 MF, 370 volt run capacitor is mounted on the back of the motor.

Fitting it

The body measures 10 inches long without the shaft and 6-1/2 inches in diameter, with four mounting holes on 5-7/8 inch centers. The shaft is threaded and 2-1/2 inches long, so the impeller threads directly onto it. Century also lists 5210X as a substitute part number, and the motor carries the Magnetek catalog number B227SE.
