Hayward CAX-20272 is the molded flow cell for CAT 1000 commercial automated controller monitors. It is the genuine Hayward part, supplied one per carton.

What the flow cell does

A controller does not read the pool directly. It reads a sample of water diverted through a flow cell, and the sensors that measure that sample sit in this housing. If the cell is cracked, fouled or leaking, the readings coming off those sensors stop being trustworthy and the controller doses on bad information.

Where it is used

CAT 1000 systems are commercial equipment, running on pools where the chemistry has to be documented and a controller out of service can close the pool. Fitting the OEM cell keeps the sensor geometry the controller was calibrated around.
